Generic Non-Area Interventions
Generic (Non-Area) Interventions are interventions that do not yet have an assigned asset area. These can be created where work is set to be completed on a route, but no assigned asset area is set for the work.
Project Delivered Activity Volume (DAV) Override
The KVL on an intervention can now be overridden and in turn, this now updates the DAV whilst keeping the asset worktype unchanged.
We've continued to add improvements to our recently released Change Requests feature, which allows users of all permission levels to suggest changes to the workbank or to delivery, for the routes default approver to approve or reject.
A new central application for administrators to manage user accounts across the full suite of Rail BI applications

You can see highlights below, please click on the links to learn more about any of the new features available. Alternatively, our full documentation is available here.
New Features
- Enhancing Project Delivery Reporting
You can now use Rail BI to manage: Deferred Renewals including Risk Assessments
- Level Crossing Workbank improvements
a. Work Type selection can now auto suggest the correct worktype for the level crossing type.
b. Rail BI will suggest appropriate interventions to install on an Interlocking Area.
c. When viewing the Level Crossing calendar, you can toggle on the display of Interlocking Interventions to easily view other work types in planned for that area
This calendar is now the default calendar displayed when you load the workbank and shows Interlockings and Level Crossings combined. Use the drop down should you wish to switch to the Projects, Interlocking Areas, Level Crossing or Trains calendars.
The attributes table on the left hand side has been updated and the legend for the Target Renewal Dates has been moved to the foot of the calendar. Other smaller improvements have also been added, such as improving the definition of the interventions on the calendar.
When clicking on an intervention you can now view the project map. Additionally, we have a new map type for ‘Project Map’ available which will show you the next 30 projects that match your filters.
We’ve tidied up the home page, adding dedicated sections for Useful links and Status Updates. We also have announcements that your Rail BI administrator may use to communicate important information.
The search function is now available in the navigation bar from any page. Use it to search for Business Cases, Options, Interlockings or Level Crossings.
The old page had reached it’s end of life, so we’ve remade this page and it’s currently called ‘New Package CapEx Costs’ It’s much faster. We’ve left the old page in for now and will retire at a later date.
We’ve introduced a new page that provides the breakdown of costs at the asset level. This page replaced Interlocking CapEx costs and can be used for equivalent Level crossing outputs
Override Direct Costs have been retitled ‘Cost Build Up’ as this function helps you to see which cost contribute towards your package. There’s also a new button that will show you the ‘Rate Book’ for that work type, in case you’d like to see all the detail for the costs in use.
We’ve tidied up this page, displaying the key information more prominently. We’ve also ensured that changes to Option Adjustments are stored in the option logs and in the Delivery Planning logs.
The configuration options for Costs and Volumes have been simplified and unnecessary rows within the table have been removed.
The option audit log is now split into primary and secondary logs with the latter now used for recording file downloads, option cache, rebuild etc. The audit entries have been reviewed and you’ll find additional information present for new audit entries going forward.
We’ve introduced the concept of ‘Parent Projects’ to allow reporting of interventions within a package under a different intervention. For example, this could be used to track non-signalling costs associated with a re-signalling work type.
Routes can now set efficiencies that they expect to achieve for each financial year within Option Settings.
